This document provides information about a Student-Directed Learning (SDL) course. The course allows students to direct their own learning by choosing what and how they learn, setting deadlines, and assessing their own learning. Students work independently but also collaborate with peers. The teacher coaches students and ensures they have the necessary skills and resources while giving students autonomy over their learning. Research shows SDL promotes skills like self-discipline, motivation, and responsibility. An example SDL program called bPod is described that allows students to design their own interdisciplinary courses through a structured process with teacher support.
