Survey Monkey Results
- 2. Question 1 The first question I asked ‘how old are you’ I wanted to ask this to see if I could see any trends in the different people I asked. However from this we can see that the majority of people were under 18. This means that they might prefer different types of films compared to older people.
- 3. Question 2 I then asked whether people preferred watching thriller or horror. From this everyone responded by saying ‘thriller’ this means that I am going to concentrate on researching thriller genres. I also feel like thriller genre would be a lot easier in coming up with an idea as you can include a lot more in the trailer. However when making my final trailer I might include slight elements of horror in it just for extra effect.
- 4. Question 3 I then wanted to find out why people chose the answer they did in the previous response. From this I got mixed results about thriller but I found out that they like thrillers as they are very gripping. This means that I want to make sure that my thriller trailer will be very exciting. People also responded saying that they thought horrors can be very predictable. Someone also said that they felt more involved in thrillers as they get to understand the characters a lot more.
- 5. Question 4 From doing my research I soon learnt that trailers can be different lengths of times. I wanted to ask this question to see which one people preferred and from this I found out that the most popular time length was 2:00 minutes. I am going to aim to make my trailer around this time as I don’t want to make it too long meaning people will get bored and I don’t want to make it too short so people don’t actually know what the film is about. However as my trailer is going to be around 2:00 minutes long, I need to make sure that it includes lot of scenes which entice people to want to come and actually watch the film.
- 6. Question 5 I asked this question as now I can research these trailers and take a look at them myself to get a bit of a understanding of what the actual film is about itself. I can also use these trailers in helping me coming up with ideas of my final trailer.
- 7. Question 6 I then asked this question to find out whether it would be more enticing having a lot of the story revealed or not that much. From this question the results show me that the majority of people felt that the trailer should include as little as possible about the plot. However I will include scenes which are exciting and thriller which will want to make the audience want to go and watch the film.
- 8. Question 7 The results show that the same amount of people responded by saying confusion and suspense. This means that I could come up with an idea which could include a bit of both in the opening of the trailer. It also told me that people didn’t think danger should be shown at the beginning of the trailer. Instead of involving danger at the beginning I might involve it at the very end of the trailer in quick clips to show the audience that a lot take places within the trailer. However I will concentrate on suspense and confusion as they were the most popular results.
- 9. Question 8 From researching and looking at other thriller and horror film trailers a lot of them had included a voiceover in the trailer. I then asked this question in my questionnaire which I found out that the majority of people felt that voiceovers are effective. I am going to include a voiceover as I think they are effective and can help to create the suspense and thrill throughout the whole trailer.
- 10. Question 9 I then asked this question to find out if people find it appealing for the trailer to create tension. As we can see that everyone has put ‘yes’ this means that I am going to create a lot of tension in my trailer in order to get the audience excited.
- 11. Question 10 The majority of people have responded by saying ‘music’ this means that I will do research into different types of music which I feel will create tension and suspense. The second most popular option was sound, this links back in with the music. I will also use some sound effects in my trailer for extra effect in trying to make the audience feel tension and suspense.
