The Engineering for Society BSc program at the University of Sussex focuses on both engineering and design skills as well as social and environmental sciences. Some of the engineering and design courses covered include design, modeling, manufacturing, electrical design, engineering design, and practical electronics. Math, computing, and science courses like mechanics are also included. The program additionally covers topics like business, project management, ethics, energy, and engineering for the environment. For his final project, student Jakob Kaye developed an innovative tidal turbine design inspired by natural systems that generated usable tidal force while also enhancing local biology and water quality, achieving a high grade.
