Taarifa is a system that allows citizens in less developed countries to report water and sanitation issues through SMS, a web form, or Android app. It uses Ushahidi as a base and adds functionality like geocoding SMS messages, assigning reports to work teams, and notifying citizens about progress. The goal is to improve sanitary conditions by providing a channel for issue reporting and feedback while being accessible through basic phones. It will be demonstrated to Tanzanian officials with the aim of the project being adopted locally to create solutions and jobs within the community.
