• Strongest Winds: 7-8 in gusts 9 bft

• Visibility sometimes less than 100 m (Crossing
from Valentia Island to Great Blasket, Dingle)

• Sea round Ireland one of the challing areas for paddling
– Tidal difference up to 6 m,
– Irish Sea (between Ireland and Great Britain) with strong
currents 3-7 kn
– South and Westcoast exposed to Atlantic swells
– Winds often more than 4 Bft.
– May is known to be (till 2015) the month with the best weather
• Circumnavigation by seakayak
– Done by less than 300 people world wide(mainly professionals)
– 3 to 10 people per year (increasing number)
– Time needed: 22 days (new record from 2015) to three month
• Very much due to weather conditions
