This document discusses an embodied conversational agent (ECA) that can be used as an advisor. It describes the motivation for developing ECAs, provides background information on related work, and outlines the system description and future plans. The ECA uses facial expressions, gestures, and verbal behaviors to demonstrate face-to-face conversation. It is being developed to serve as a health coach and advisor using empathy, emotional engagement, and evaluation of emotion. Future work will focus on improving the agent's appearance, gestures, behaviors and using it in educational domains.
