- 2. Typical Target Audience The age of someone who will tend to watch these films do vary. Although it is most common with people who are ages 18 and above which consist of both genders. This is down to there is often disturbing features involved in the conventions of a psychological film as it plays a lot on the audiences and character's minds. There are usually warnings on the back of the DVD cover which states why it is rated as it is e.g. contains extreme violence or some sort of other unsuitable content for the younger members.
