Main image alike the masthead is incredibly significant in the cover. Therefore, it will be bold (taking up most of the page). Main cover story Cover stories Barcode Short, snappy, catchy and appealing to the eye. Cover stories Cover stories (Main image caption) To show the reader it is up to date and make them want it.

Also, it is incredibly conventional and effective. My aim is to create a modern pop magazine and which is like billboard in a sense, classy and neat. Depending on the artist on the cover, change fonts to suit their style if a girly artist serif, if a masculine, sans serif. Same font for the cover stories, possibly a different one for the main cover story. Calibri Light (Headings) Arial Black Calibri (Body) This would also suit the Calibri (Body) font.

Cover 1 (colours) Masthead Date/Issue number Main image Main cover story Cover stories Cover stories Cover stories (Main image caption) Black or white as these are bold and sophisticated, whichever chose needs to be kept the same throughout not only the cover but the rest of the magazine, to create brand identity, also the other colours should be fairly co- ordinated to make the masthead stand out. Easily seen. Therefore, colours specifically chosen for to not clash with image and fundamentally be readable and clear. However, not to bold or bright as my main intention is not to take away the attention from the masthead and main image as these are what the reader needs to be focused on (in my opinion). Pretty plain and small as its is not crucial but still significant enough to be published. This should also be similar in each issue but obviously it will depend on the man images’ colour. Colours will depend on how I want the artist to be portrayed, along with their costume and the lighting and setting. This is vital in the artists’ representation. For example; if a light background (image), the cover stories with be dark. This is an example of the type of colour contrast I wish to practice.

Conventional placement alike the masthead as these are the most significant parts of the cover, therefore, need to be presented effectively where they can be seen and even emphasised. Similarly to my first draft, it is important for the readers to comprehend the issue they are buying/reading and if it is new or not. Differently to the first draft I made is a tag, something intriguing possibly “exclusive”. Cover stories revolve around the artist(s) to signify his/her importance. As you can see here.

Green, though commonly paired with blue, is actually a unisex colour. Light tints are generally right down the middle. Orange is another colour that is considered unisex. Light, peachy versions can be feminine, but stronger more pure versions of the colour and the warmer yellow influenced versions are good for both genders. Black or white Again the colours of the cover stories depend on the image, but preferably, I would like yellow, red or green as they stand out and don’t target a certain gender. The tag I would prefer to be a darker/dull colour just so there is a variation between the cover stories and the tag. Perhaps a dark blue towards purple

Smaller so it does not take away too much attention from main, but can still be seen. Image 3 Text Text Keep the readers updated on which copy they have. Larger than other images because this will be the most popular artist on this page. Therefore I will want the audience to see this. Possibly a pull quote from interviewee, along with quick overviews. Relating to the smaller images.

The colours also need to signify the crucial parts of this page, for example the title and headers. The title and header need to be bold and as they are titles of sorts, they would suit the same colour but obviously different sizes to emphasise the difference. I think a dull orange like this would be very effective. The month of issue is also needed. I want this to be co- ordinated. Possibly a dark orange. The text I also want to commit to the scheme of the page an example is this colour.

Image and title overlap to make it interesting and hopefully stand out more. Page numbers to make it simple and navigational. However, there will be numbers in other places like the text or images because some people recognize the celebrity in the image and don’t know their name. This will effectively make it easier for them. Not too close to the main image because the last thing I intend to do it make it look crammed or unprofessional. The distance also allows the eyes to flow through the text with the pleasure of an image nearby. Text Text positions are varied to keep it interesting and appealing to the eye.

Adobe Fan Heiti Std B The page numbers need to be easily read as they are extremely significant. Therefore, a sans serif font would suit this role. Lucida Console B I think the text would also look good sans serif.

Plain black background as the information for this is the most significant and its look is not as important as the cover and double page spread. The title would suit a pale grey as it is unisex and appealing to the eye. As this is fairly plain I think the text would look good as white.

Title Pull quote Page number Text Image taking up large proportion, effectively to emphasise the importance. Will most likely be of an artist, however, could be a band too. Page number to make it navigational. Pull quote makes it feel more realistic and accurate. Therefore, making the reader interested in reading all the information given. Conventional, neat location.This layout is similar to Q magazines, I have chosen this as it is neat, easy to understand format and essentially tidy. T Text will take up the remainder of the page, as the audience I aim for (older teens) prefer detailed text.

On this page I would prefer the same font for the image caption, text and pull quote. However, different for the title and page number. I would like to use the Bell MT font for the text, caption and pull quote. Bell MTT I would also prefer the drop cap to be bold and in italic E.g. Bell MT I believe this pages format would look better serif, as it is more sophisticated. Baskerville Old Face (bold) Adobe Heiti Std R throughout the magazine as it is clear, easily comprehendible. I am considering using a plain colour background for the right page, relating to the colour of the main image so it is colour co- ordinated and looks good. For example, if the images’ background was sky (light blue) then the right page would have a light blue background hopefully the same as the images. T I think the colour of the title should be fairly dark making it bold. I think the choice is out of these, whichever suits the images colour best. I am still unsure of this colour, querying if it should be different to the text. I will have to test it out. Bright, possibly white or yellow. Red

This spread I think would suit sans serif throughout. Thinking about using the ….font in capitals and italic for the main image caption and pull quote to emphasise there differences from the rest of the text. CALIBRI LIGHT in capitals, bold and italic. CALIBRI LIGHT in capitals, bold and italic. Calibri Light for text and number as it is clear and not dominating the image.
