- 2. Hand Etching – This is traditional method of using strong acid to cut into unprotected parts of metals, such as copper zinc and steel theses were the common metals use for this to create a design in the metal, it is along the lines of engraving n something. The artist scratches off the ground, this has a waxy base on it, this is done so the artist is able to view what he is trying to make. Linocut – This is done with wood. The wood is covered with material (linoleum) this is to the relief side. This is the side you apply the negative picture on with ink, this is done so when the picture is pasted on to the wood it comes out in the right way e.g. if there was a writing it would have be written opposite so it comes out in the right way. Screen print - this is a technique where a mesh material is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil Lithography – this is the method of printing from a stone or a metal plate with a smooth surface with oil and water.
- 3. Technology Letterpress - printing from a hard raised image under pressure, using viscous ink. Screen process – this is a traditional type of printing, Silk screen printing is a form of stencil printing, the ink is applied to the back of the image and pushed through the open areas.
- 4. Printing Photocopying – this is a copy of an image or some text. Laser Printing – this is a digital printing process. It produces high-quality, text and graphics, repeatedly by passing through a laser back and forth.
