Dahlia is portrayed as a caring older sister who protects her younger sister Cynthia. When their father becomes enraged, Dahlia rushes Cynthia into a cupboard and tries to calm her down. Though Dahlia looks somewhat creepy, she watches over Cynthia like Wednesday Addams cares for her siblings. The film suggests teenage girls feel responsible for their families and want to protect younger siblings no matter the danger. Cynthia, unlike the typical younger sister, depends on Dahlia for answers and comfort since their parents are unavailable. Both sisters represent how elder siblings take care of younger ones who get scared and ask many questions.
