- 4. Proposal What is your story? I am going to be doing the fairy tale of sleeping beauty, however I am going to make this fairy tale my own and make it unique to its classic original story. I am going to re-create the story of sleeping beauty with my own images that I will take using a camera, props, models, costumes and I may include some images from the internet and make them my own by editing them on Photoshop and changing them from how they look originally to more of a comic book style. The classic tale is originally about a girl who is given a curse and at the age of 16 will prick her finger and fall in to a deep sleep until she is awoken by love. However I am going to change some of the story to avoid copying it word for word. I am going to involve a different format as I will include my own images. I am also going to make the classic fairytale in to a graphic novel instead of it’s usual children’s book layout. I feel that this will make my product unique and different from everyone else’s. I will set the images up in a comic book style layout and separate the different scenes with thick bars in between just as you would see in a graphic novel.

I feel that this will be very effective and the two different formats of comic and fairy tale will contrast well as the images that I use could easily be changed and edited to fit in with the style of a graphic novel. I feel that this product would appeal to many people as it involves both the children's tale for younger people and the graphic novel layout for an older audience. I will take the images my self using a camera, models, costumes and props and I will then upload these on to Photoshop and use filters and editing to achieve the look I want for the graphic novel.
- 6. Who is the audience? The audience for my product will have the age range from 5 to teens as I feel that even though it is going to be set out in a graphic novel format I still feel that children would understand it if it is set out clearly enough. I don’t feel that the fairy tale would put teens off my product as I feel that it is very different from the normal tale and would be found very interesting and different for people as I have not seen a product like this before. I also feel that the audience would most likely be female as it’s a fairy tale format and a romantic also seen as more of a feminine story. I understand that I have to keep the font quite simplistic and easy to read if I am to keep this age range and for the young children I will have to keep it easy to understand and read and keep a limited amount of text. However my product could also be aimed for males as I am going to ensure that the layout and editing of the product stays in a graphic novel style which may attract to more males. I am definitely going to ensure that my comic sticks to this audience as I feel that it suits it best. I am going to do this by making sure that all the fonts used are clear and readable for the younger readers and I will also make sure that I follow the graphic novel format of this product to ensure that this comic will be found interesting by everyone instead of just being a repetition of the same classic fairy tale.
- 7. What methods will you use to create this product? This product will be easily produced using Photoshop and will still have a positive result, using filters I will be able to turn each image I have taken to represent a fairy tale character in to an image suitable for a graphic novel. I will take the images my self using a camera and then upload those images on to Photoshop. I feel that this will be a very effective method of creating a graphic novel as it is different from any other novel I have seen and will stand out and be seen as very unique and different. The images will represent all the characters in the original tale and could be seen as having a modern twist as it will obviously look very different to how the tale has been created on films and in images.
