- 1. Techniques Micro Features: Mise-en-scene, editing, camerawork, lighting, sound. Bourne Legacy is good for camerawork; it has different types of shots showing different scenes portrays deeper meanings. Insight is the key to imagination. Fast paste editing portrays time is chaos and panic. The audience must feel what the characters are feeling to indicate there's a real connection. The Costume is casual; the colours of the clothes are grey, white, dark blue and black. The man is wearing black which represents dominance. The woman is wearing blue to represent her emotions. She feels isolated and lonely. She wants to reach out for help. I have decided to use some techniques from “The Apparition” teaser trailer. The film focuses on low-key lighting. I want to develop dark atmosphere. The absorbent of darkness gives the audience an uncertainty of what is going on. There could be a supernatural force in the room that is tormenting the main characters. There are a lot of shadows throughout the trailer to connote a silhouette. This keeps the audience interested. The target audience must feel scared, cold and threatened by what’s going on inside of the frame. This trailer is mixed with non-diegetic and diegetic music to give the audience mixture of different emotions. The non-diegetic sound is very effective. It starts of small and it progresses onwards when the scenes get more dramatic. Dramatic irony causes a lot of tensions Silent Hill 2: is a good example for dialogue. The conversation between man and the woman was constant with shot verse shot. The dialogue is quick, snappy and quiet. This showed the panic and the vulnerability between characters. This skill is essential for my teaser trailer. The main protagonist will be centered on the themes of paranoia and insanity. The costume in Silent hill is simple; the colours are beige, brown and black. This shows a rusty and dirty effect. It reminded me of dead bodies and the smell of it decaying and deteriorating. The Apparition is useful since it’s a psychological thriller and this is useful and essential for our teaser trailer as were going to play with the character’s role and not make every scene predictable for the audience. Our target is to tease them as much as possible. Codes and Conventions Horror movies are based on the theme of death, serial killers and supernatural forces. Horror’s can also affect people in different ways; some people are entertained while others can barely watch the rest. The experience of watching a
- 2. horror can give us nightmares or can make us start to hallucinate about the narrative of the movie. Horror movies are always portrayed to be personal to us, especially when the protagonist is a serial killer. As there are real cases of a group of people who have been murdered by an unknown predator. A famous example is “Scream” directed by Wes Craven, a character named “Sidney Prescott” who survived the massacre throughout the series. This highlights on a numerous things, a killer always seems to dominant the story and they seem to have a grudge on somebody or want a particular victim just like the main protagonist (Jasmine Holmes) in diamond rush.
