Technologies learnt
- 1. 2.) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? • One technical process I have learnt from constructing this product is how to crop the background from an image on Photoshop so there isn’t any white around the image. I did this by creating a box around the area and clicked select, inverse and delete. Learning this tool has helped my cover and contents page to look well constructed, organised and professional. I used this process when creating the masthead and main coverlines on my covers because I used a website called ‘Dafont’ to get my chosen font.
- 2. • Embedding presentations made on websites like Prezi, Emaze and Slideshare onto my blog was another thing I learnt how to do when constructing this product. Creating presentations on these websites has helped make my blog more technically advanced and is a more aesthetically pleasing way to present and look at my work. When you complete a presentation on one of these websites, you click embed which then shows a link code that you copy. You then go onto your blog, click HTML and copy the link and publish. Whilst doing this on one website, I then learnt how to do them on other websites similar because they work the same. Learning this process helped me plan my work better because the presentations then allowed me to think more about the way the cover and contents should look.
- 3. • Another thing I have learnt through constructing this product is how to use a blog to organise and plan a product. I have learnt how to make and publish new posts and how to add images, videos and other presentations . This then has improved the way I have planned my work because I have been able to consistently write things in my blog to plan every single detail and reflect about positive things and challenges of constructing this product. Therefore, I have learnt how you can use a blog effectively to achieve the best outcome.
- 4. • Another thing I have learnt about technology during the making of this product is how to put a black outline on writing on Photoshop. This tool is called ‘stroke’ and I used this to make the masthead and coverlines on the contents and front cover to stand out against the background of the main image so the text doesn't blend in and hide in the main image. To use stroke on Photoshop I clicked the appropriate layer with the text on and clicked ‘fx’ and set the thickness of the stoke to how I wanted. Learning the stroke tool had consequently made me think more about the small details for the aesthetic of the cover and contents and reconsider the small details and how well they could effect the overall product.
- 5. • Another thing I have learnt about technologies since the start of creating this product is how to have different font. I learnt how to use a website called ‘Dafont’ which allows you to chose from a range of lots of different fonts and I used this for my magazine. First you have to chose what font you would like, write out the text in the setting large, print screen and then paste onto photoshop. I also learnt to do one small word at a time because otherwise all of the text wont fit in and will cut off some of the letters. This improved my overall product because I could then choose from a wide selection and make my magazine look and give the impression I wanted it to. I used the font from ‘Old School’ called ‘JERSEY M54’ because it used clear block letters.
