  • #5: A main part of the simplification of the environment is to understand that not all data is equal and not all processes are necessary everywhere. You want to leverage the right tools in the right way at the right time. It is also good to understand that data and analytics are used in many different ways. A good point to remember is that any resource used incorrectly will be expensive. When looking at the total eco-system there are many considerations around the simplification of process and the reduction of cost. This is not just a one dimensional problem. Many organizations do try to look at this is a “cost to store” problem. However there are more important aspects such as the cost to develop new analytics, the cost to deploy and maintain production system as new ideas prove themselves, and the cost of data management and transfer. If done without a cohesive plan in place, the cheapest solution can become very expensive. Teradata has been a successful player in the delivery of total analytical ecosystems. The Unified Data Architecture takes that experience and expands it to include a whole host of new platforms, tools, and processes which in turn simplify the IT and user experiences as well as drives a lower total cost for delivery of higher value.

  • #9: Our research shows that 90 percent of organizations will deploy analytics both on-premises and in the cloud by 2020. Therefore, organizations need analytic software that can run wherever they choose to deploy it—now, and as their requirements change.
  • #10: But to help de-risk your decisions, we’ve got you covered. Teradata Hybrid Cloud is enabled by “Teradata Everywhere” – which means the very same software can be deployed across a wide range of options. Whether in an IntelliCloud environment that Teradata manages and delivers as a service… Or software subscriptions in public cloud marketplaces… Or in a private cloud using a customer’s own virtualized infrastructure… Or on-premises with our highly-integrated physical systems. Regardless of deployment choice, Teradata software is the same across the board, and data and workloads can be moved and shared between them. We believe this strategy is unique to Teradata. While other companies may have deployment choice, they typically have different versions of software in those environments… …OR they have much fewer choices available, such as cloud-only or just one type of public cloud offering. But with Teradata you get deployment choice AND software consistency.

  • #14: Teradata now has a new comprehensive software licensing model. In the past we had multiple models depending on deployment choice… … and we used to charge for a variety of value-add options that most customers felt should have been included in the foundational price. With the new subscription-based licensing model, however, all that has changed. There is now consistency across all deployment types as well as license portability across all deployment types, which allows customers to move workloads as their needs change. We’ve created simplified bundles or “tiers” at varying price points so that customers can choose the appropriate feature set for their needs – or the right tool for the job. And being subscription-based greatly lowers the up-front costs and allows a much smoother OpEx investment pattern over time.
  • #15: Another key element of Teradata’s strategy and a key factor in de-risking your decisions is Teradata license portability… … which is the ability for a customer to transfer licenses from one deployment type to another. So instead of separate investments resulting in separate buckets of money allocated to different deployment types… …it’s as if Teradata customers have one large bucket of orange Teradata tokens that can be distributed and re-allocated across deployment types as necessary as business needs change. Think of it like different types engines in cars; some are very powerful and generate more horsepower and higher speed at the expense of higher fuel consumption… …while others are very efficient but cannot accelerate quite as fast or pull as much weight. In all cases, though, they use the same type of gasoline which is portable and can be shared between them – just like Teradata software licenses being portable among deployment modes.
