Year 11 Apparel: Produce a garment for a client
For some of these students this was the first year studying Textiles.
Non- Apparel: Produce a non-apparel item that incorporates two forms of fabric decoration. Hand Dyeing and Quilting/Painting with fabric: Textured Drop and Sew, Creating Shapes with fabric.
Wall Hanging:  Textured background, Embroidered Shapes, Patchwork, Machine creative quilting and appliqué . Fits into Non-apparel or Home Furnishings.Patchwork quilt: with Prarie Points. Suffolk Puffs, Bows, Frills, Patchwork and Quilting. Fits into Non-apparel, Home furnishings
Year 12Major Textiles Project and Folio start in term 4,  2012Students have 11 months to complete this item at school.This includes one major textile item from the following context areas:Costume

Furnishings
Textile Art
Non-apparelThis also includes a 12 x  A3 page folio  showing the development and making your Major Textile item.
Major Design Project with folioA photographic record is kept by the teacher during the development of your project.
Finished item being boxed to send to Sydney for marking by the Board of Studies Markers.
Students have 12 months to work on their Major Textiles Project.Most students in the past have commented that Textiles and Design is their creative release from their other high pressure subjects.Student made Bear and Clothing

  • 23. Silk painting: Development of own cultural story to be turned into a dress
  • 24. Major Textiles Projects are often paraded in the school “On Show”. All garments scored well in the HSC. The green fairy costume scoring in the high 90’s. Band 6. Student interests, creativity and skills are fostered and developed.
  • 26. Solvy lace is produced on the sewing machine
  • 27. Creative machine embroidery using dissolvable ‘Solvy’ to make intricate lace.
  • 28. Solvy washed away in soapy water to form a lace.
  • 29. Solvy lace fabric is dried and ready for use
  • 30. Final costume with Solvy tail draped across the back for effect. Tail of solvy lace ready to be sewn into costume
  • 31. Recycling is often an option for your Major Project. This project, made from recycled lace curtains achieved a band 6 in the 2010 HSC year.
  • 32. Influenced by Japanese Culture.This Train shows a bold geometric contemporary fabric with Suffolk puffs used to produce the ragged edge of the train.The dress was short with a decorated obi and large bow. This project scored well in the HSC with a score of 89.
