- #4: Last december, in 2011, the European Commission announced its new Open Data strategy, including its own open data portal, spreading the policy of providing open data across Europe and backing this process with €100 million for related research.\nIn this context, the European Commission’s vice president, Neelie Kroes, is quoted to say “...”.\nThis nicely sets the stage for this breakout session.\nSo, Neelie Kroes says “Your data is worth more if you give it away.” - I would go one step further and say ... - #6: This is, in a nutshell, what the LATC project is all about - supporting you in making your data available to the public, linking it to other data and benefitting from it. \nSo, in the next 2 hours or so, you’ll be hearing a lot about LATC, but also about the EU Data Cloud, that is, the set of open EU data on the Web.\n
