This document evaluates the performance of the IEEE 802.16 physical layer, specifically focusing on bit error rate (BER) using MATLAB simulations with Stanford University Interim (SUI) channel models. The study explores the robustness of broadband wireless access (BWA) technology against multipath propagation, comparing it to traditional DSL and cable modem technologies. Findings indicate that IEEE 802.16's orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is effective for delivering high-speed internet in areas lacking wired broadband connectivity.
