What is Knowledge Management? Information Collection from real world experiences Processing information into knowledge Contextual Knowledge Distribution ORGANIZATION WORLD
Why is It Important? KM = Competitive Advantage Raw Data collection Inconsistent collection Lack of standardization Data Accuracy Processing raw data into knowledge Data Interpretation Data Relevancy Large and complex knowledge base Contextual Knowledge distribution Ease of Access Ability of the data to support/deny hypotheses

What do I want to do? Explore the application of latest technologies to develop a product that enhances knowledge management within financial consultancies.  Precedents…
Early Concept 1 – Bridging existing systems A handheld device that incorporates a variety of technologies to store, process and display knowledge.   Raw Data collection Processing raw data into knowledge Contextual Knowledge distribution
Early Concept 2 – The KM room ( Projected interactive knowledge systems) A singular desktop projected onto the surfaces within a space. Users can create their own work piles or work upon new projects. Sharing work is as easy as passing a piece of paper on to the next user.
Next Steps Identify target organization (possibly Ernst & Young) Contact available consultants Conduct data gathering exercise with the consultants Identify needs and requirements Validate and narrow the scope Continue further research based on existing studies Further ideation Explore possible technologies early on
