This document is a research proposal submitted by a student to analyze the process of strategy formation in international firms that were formerly headquartered in South Africa but have since relocated their headquarters to London, UK. The student proposes to examine the strategy formation processes within the London headquarters and compare them to the processes within the South African operations of these firms. The proposal provides background on the relocation of major South African firms to London in the late 1990s/early 2000s and identifies gaps in existing research on how relocation impacts strategy formation. It outlines the research problem, significance, delimitations and methodology to be used.
