SCHOOL REPRIEVE?   Tuesday, April 22, 2008 By PAUL KOEPP JOURNAL STAFF WRITER  There may be a reprieve for Hudson Catholic Regional High School.  An official from the Archdiocese of Newark told a meeting last night that the school's alumni association has three weeks to come up with a funding plan for the next school year. The Rev. Kevin M. Hanbury, the vicar for education/superintendent of schools for the Archdiocese, also said there's a possibility the all-boys school could go co-ed for the 2009-2010 school year.  The announcement was met with wild applause by the 300 or so parents of students and alumni at the school's gym last night. Details of how much funding the Archdiocese is looking for were not available. The meeting was still going on at press time last night.
Hudson Catholic alums meet tonight to try to save school by The Jersey Journal  Wednesday April 23, 2008, 11:41 AM Alumni of Hudson Catholic Regional High School in Jersey City plan to  meet tonight  in an effort to come up with a fundraising strategy to save the school. The Archdiocese of Newark granted a three-week reprieve to the financially ailing school but after strong opposition from alumni, students and parents, an effort is now underway to avert the closing. St. Anthony talks on hold   Wednesday, April 23, 2008 Archdiocese of Newark officials confirmed Monday night there have been talks with St. Anthony High School in Downtown Jersey City regarding the Hudson Catholic property.  But those talks have been tabled for now as Hudson Catholic's alumni work on a plan to keep the school open next year and beyond.
