1.   Make sure that you understand about kinds of questions, tag
     questions, statements.
2.   Make sure that you understand the pronunciation of the
     speaker; at least you know what the speaker means.
3.   Be careful with words that sound similar/almost similar but
     have different meanings.
4.   Answer the questions according to the kind of the question
     itself.
5.   Never listen to the directions given by the narrator since you
     can use that time to read all the answer choices.
6.   Never look at the previous question since it will make you have
     no time to guess what the next question is talking about.
7.   Make sure that you block the answer sheet columns after you
     hear the questions.
8.   Make sure that you answer all the questions. The wrong answer
     will not reduce your score.

                   • Yes/no Question
                    a question that may be answered
                     by yes or no.
a. Question           Auxiliary + subject + verb/3C?



                    • Information Question
                     a question that asks for information by
                      using a question word.
                       QW + auxiliary + subject + verb/3C?
Auxiliary + subject + verb/ 3C?

 Examples:
 • Can you give me some money?           Yes, of course or OK etc.
   Aux. S    V

 • Are you sleepy?                     Yes, I am or No, I am not
  Aux. S   Adj.
                                       etc.
Note: Yes/no question is not always answered yes or no.
 Has the ship arrived yet?
a. All shipments are undergoing inspection.
b. It’s entering the harbor now.
c. I’ll get it.
QW + auxiliary + subject + verb/3C?

Examples:
• When will employees start to pack their boxes?
   QW   Aux.      S     V

 Note: do not use do/does/did in question if who/what/which is
      the subject of the sentence.
                         Compare!
  who object                           who subject
Fika telephoned somebody         Somebody telephoned Fika


Who did Fika telephoned?          Who telephoned Fika?
b. Tag questions
  A word or phrase that is added to a sentence for emphasis consisting of an
  auxiliary verb (or non-auxiliaries be or have) + pronoun subject, put on to
  the end of a sentence.

 Examples:
  Fahmi is ugly, isn’t he?

  They speak Englis, don’t they?

  Do the best, will you?

  Let’s play, shall we?
a.   A word with consonant end and a word with
     vowel initial will be read as if they were in one
     word.


   Example:
   Why didn’t you get to work on time?
            ju             kon
     The menu is in his hand.
                isinis
     The man is climbing the ladder. (bombing,
     combing, etc.)
   Examples:
   They’re, it’s, she/he’s ,etc.:      their, his, its, etc.
    They are: They’re
    a.They’re looking out the window.
    b.They’re having a meeting.
    c.They’re eating in a restaurant.
    d.They’re moving the furniture.

   Hasn’t, won’t, wouldn’t, can’t, shan’t, etc.
    Wasn’t new departure time announced yet?

• Message         Massage
• Desert          Desert
• Hear            Hair               Here
• Cap             Cup
• Cat             Cut
• Cough           Calf
5. Never listen to the directions given by the narrator
   since you can use that time to read all the answer
   choices.
