Tip no 1Mind is the fore runner for all inventions. Our mind is the “main tool” used through-out the entire process. That is from conceptualizing a new idea right-up to bringing the new product onto the market place. Tip no 2We know the Malay word manusia means human being. But do you know Manusia in Sanskrit are made-up of two words. Manu which mean human and Usia mean potential to cultivate. Therefore manusia mean “a being with a mind that could cultivated to its full potential” Tip no 3We are very fortunate to have a human mind that could cultivate intellectually. This potential is enormous and it has no limit. Human mind operate at lightning speed. It can store memories as large as an ocean. Its mental strength is stronger than titanium steel
Steps one : ConceptualizationMore tips…Tip no. 6 To create a good invention it should contain 3 important elements. That is one, it should benefit mankind. Two, good for the environment and three, there are inventive steps in your new inventionTip no 10 To create a new invention you need a good imagination and a truck load of passionTip no. 7 You do not need to have a Master degree to create a new invention. There is no discrimination of academic qualification. Your age is also not a factor. Everybody can be an inventor
Tipno.15 Malaysia is blessed with people of multi races. The people speak different language, cook different cuisines, wear colourful attires and practice different culture and traditions. This provides a conducive platform for creativity and innovationTips, tips, tips.Tip no.17 One major hindrance why a person thinks he cannot be an inventor is because human being in general has a hive of opinions. But unless he opens-up, he is a prisoner of his opinionsTip no. 16 Ideas come to you when you are most relaxed. So take time-out to do different things. Get-off the grid. It will do you a whole world of goodTip no. 19 Nothing can come-up from nothing. Therefore, an invention is something creative that comes-out from a combination of previous pieces of work put-together.
Each tip is no more 50 wordsTips no 20 Before embarking on a project to create an invention, you should conduct an “idea check” to see if your idea deserve such priority. The reason is because not all new ideas are worthy of your time and moneyTip no.22 A good place to do patent search is at the Malaysian Patent Office www.myipo.gov.my Go check it out and see if other people have already thought of the same idea as yoursTip no.24 A “shiocksendiri” invention is an amazing invention that nobody wants to buy. People who claimed their idea is the best in the world without having done any market research are only fooling themselvesTip no.28 The Malaysian government believe that creative innovation is the next engine of growth. They are here to support us to create a large pool of new technologies, inventions and innovations. You can get a research grant to fund your project. Visit www.cradle.com.my to find out more.
Creating the invention.Tip no.30 A prototype can be defined as physical mock-up pieces of work that reflect the idea you have envisaged earlier. While a working model can be define as a physical unit that runs and function accordinglyTip no. 33 A vast majority of time in the life of an inventor is devoted in getting things wrong. Or rather, to painstakingly testing things to see how they might work right.
Tips no. 38 The economic surrounding a single patent, or a group of patents, revolves around the balance between the expenses of obtaining and maintaining the patent(s), and the income derive from owning that/ those patents. Tips on IP protection.Tip no.37 The patent office recognizes the FIRST person who filed a new idea as the rightful owner to that invention. Therefore, during the time before you file the patent, you should safe guard your idea and prevent others from stealing itTip no. 40 You do not need to build a working model in order to file a patent. The patent office accepts your application just by you having conceived a new idea
Tips for Steps sixValuation of an InventionTips no.43 Like convention property, intellectual property also has a price tagged on it. Therefore, it is advisable for you to engage an expert to conduct a valuation. Having done that and with a price on your new invention, it’ll forms a basis for discussion during commercialization stage.Tip no. 44 Wealth is no more measured in terms of fixed assets such as building, land, machinery and etc. Wealth is now measured in term of knowledge-based system which adds value. Intangible assets in particularly intellectual property rights (IPr) constitute real value for businesses.
Tips for Steps sevenCommercializationTip no. 47 To commercialize your new invention the 1st option you have is to sell your intellectual property rights (IPr) out-right to an interested party. You will get a lump sum. This is hard to come by though, but it is every inventor’s dreamTip no. 48 To commercialize your new invention the 2nd option you have is to license-out your idea to an interested industrialist. In this arrangement, you’ll earn royalty every time the product is sold in the market. It’s like how a singer earns from his songs
Turning Idea Into InnovationStep no. 7 - Commercialization1. Sell off your Invention Sell your IP out-rightCommercialize by yourself Self fundingApply a CIP 500 grant2.Licensing Earn Royalty through LicensingRoute toCommercialization3.
