Title Integration
- 1. SNATCH TITLE INSPIRATION Our titles will be in the style of Snatch and Rock’n’Rolla using cartoon-like images in freeze frames. In Snatch, the colour of the background is removed, filled with a block colour and the character is given a cartoon-like filter. The font on every title is the same with the stars in the corners. The shots show freeze frames of the characters that show their character, using props such as cigarettes, playing cards and gold. Where as, others are shown being violent, punching a bag or putting someone in the boot of a car. The colours used are dull and the person is in black and white with the same tints as the background. Sometimes a direct address is used in the more violent intimidating characters which adds to the intensity of the character.
- 2. ROCK N ROLLA INSPIRATION The Rock’n’Rolla freeze frames are more brightly coloured with the same orange tint and a stencil font and more of a stencilled picture. There are movements between the titles rather than the freeze frames in Snatch. There are close ups of action codes such as the guns. Rock’n’Rolla contains cityscape backgrounds in their shots. Our titles will contain parts of both title effects as they are conventional to the genre and we think are effective in showing the audience the genre as well as expressing themes and the representation of characters. Also the distributors and producers have displayed there logos in a similar way with the effect applied to there’s which is effective as it fits the theme of the film.
- 3. EVALUATION We will have our most volatile character ‘Lumber Jack’ directly at a close up while showing aggressive emotion through his face. We plan to take the idea of the edited distributor and producer logo and change one logo to the theme of our film as it is effective and will fit with our genre. We also plan to incorporate the ‘Pop Art’ look by putting a coloured tint filter on to a still image and use props which will give indications to the nature of the characters and add to the way they're representing through out the opening The importance of well integrated titles is going to be important in our film opening therefore these decisions will be instrumental into establishing the plot and themes within the film , furthermore we have spotted the conventions of the genre and this is how we plan to utilise them and put our own twist on them.
