The night train Richard: We’re on a train on the way to Surat Thani from Bangkok. Jackie: Yeah, we’ve taken the night train. We left at about half past seven, was it half past seven? Richard: (We) left at …um… seven thirty on the dot… Jackie: From Bangkok Richard: …and we were to arrive at quarter past six but it’s now coming up to seven o’clock in the morning and Surat Thani’s still nowhere in sight. We think we might arrive at seven thirty. Jackie: Which means we’ll probably miss the boat going across to Samui. Richard: But …um… an interesting night. Lots of …er… jerking around on the train and not much sleep but very comfortable. Jackie: Just the two of us in here, first class. They gave us …um… well, a mattress for the… for the bed and sheets and pillows and a blanket, air-conditioned. Richard: Bit too much air-conditioning. Jackie: (It’s a) bit cold!
