(SECTION: CATTLEYA, GLADIOLA, CARNATION)
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, 85% of the students are expected to:
a) identify different transition words and use it in a paragraph;
b) draw a picture of a bridge;
c) recognize the importance of using transitional words on writing

c) Reference: Experiencing Powerful English Work text 1, pg. 155-158
d) Time Frame: 1 hour

a. Routine: Prayer; Attendance; Cleanliness
b) Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
- Let the students draw their own bridge
2. Analysis
After the activity, the following questions will be asked:
a) Is a bridge important?
b) What is the main purpose of having a bridge?
c) What do you think will happen if there are no bridges?
d) In English grammar, how do you call words that function like a
bridge?
3. Abstraction
TRANSITION WORDS are used to show relationship between ideas.
Transition words are like bridges between your paragraphs. It helps you
arrange your ideas so that the readers will understand your paragraph.
List of transition words

4. Application
Direction: Underline the transition words on the story
Once upon a time, there lived a family of bears in a lovely wooded area.
One day while the bears were not at home, a little girl came to the house.
First, she knocked the door. She waited but no one answered her knock.
Because nobody’s around, she entered the house and ate some food, and then
she napped on one of the beds. When the bears returned home, they were
surprised to see the little girl. The roars of the bears woke her up and she
fearfully ran from the house. As a result of her experience, she never again
went to the woods alone.
5. Evaluation
- Determine the function of the underlined transition words and use it on a
sentence.
6. Assignment
- Select a topic from the list below. Write a paragraph about the topic using
transition words. Circle each transition words used in your paragraph.
