Editor's Notes

  • #2: Treemetrics Hello It’s a great honour to speak at Austimber. In the fist decade of the 21st century we are getting used to living in what Thomas Friedmann the pulitzer prize winner calls a hyper connected world. In the first decade of the 21st century we are getting used living in a highly uncertain world with unstoppable risks. The experts are telling us that this is the new norm. In this first decade we have witnessed fusion, fission nanotech, biotech, Big Data they tell us is the next big thing in technology. All in all amazing strides! In the forest industry however we are still using a 19th century tool called the calipers to measure our forests. Today I would like to offer the industry a viable alternative
  • #6: Treemetrics is aiming to be world leaders in Forest data analtyics. We have pulled together some of the brightest brains in Software, Hardware, AI. Data mining, data modelling, optimisation, Advanced manufacturing, Telecoms
  • #21: Key Message: Smarter forests today are using technology to enable new models for leadership that can help drive sustainable economic growth. Speaking Points: Smarter forest are forests that are: Leveraging information to make better decisions Anticipating problems to resolve them proactively, and Coordinating resources to operate effectively These are simple ideas, but the latest enhancements in technology have created possibilities that were unthinkable just a few years ago… for example: We can now harness more information from ever before We can anticipate problems using analytics capabilities that are much more detailed and precise than previous models. For example, we can now predict how production patterns will change in real-time, providing very detailed models that enable foresters to adjust product flows to minimize value loss and or avoid customerdisatifaction. And finally, we can coordinate resources by driving both communication and processes to the right people at the right time based on process automation, collaboration, and business rules. These developments have fundamentally increased the value that forests can generate for their citizens and enable innovation in the ways city leaders operate Additional Background Information: From 2010 Coillte deployed the system, essentially providing real-time analysis of available in forest storage.
