Twitter is a microblogging service that allows users to share short messages called tweets that are limited to 140 characters. Tweets can be used to share status updates, thoughts, references, news, and engage in conversations by mentioning other users with the @ symbol or replying directly to tweets. While initially intended for sharing status updates with friends and followers, Twitter is commonly used to spread news and engage in discussions through questions and answers.
