This document presents the development of a ubiquitous healthcare monitoring system called SOWBAN that integrates triaxial accelerometers, SpO2 sensors, and location tracking using an Android smartphone to enhance remote patient monitoring. The system enables real-time collection and analysis of physiological data from patients, particularly the elderly and those in rehabilitation, facilitating easy access to healthcare services for improved patient outcomes. SOWBAN aims to address the challenges of traditional healthcare provision through innovative service-oriented designs, ensuring seamless and effective healthcare delivery.
