This document discusses Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. UDL is based on the idea that the curriculum should be designed to accommodate learner differences rather than expecting learners to adapt. There are three core UDL principles: provide multiple means of representation, provide multiple means of action and expression, and provide multiple means of engagement. These principles support flexibility in how information is presented, how students demonstrate knowledge, and how they are motivated to learn. The goal of UDL is to create instruction that meets the needs of all learners from the outset rather than retrofitting after problems arise.
