UM Readr Circl
OUR VERY OWN ONLINE LIBRARY!
A Humble Beginning
How it all started
Have you ever…
 Read a book sooo good, you feel like everybody have
to read this!
 Have a lot books, had read ‘em once, and now they’re
stacking in numbers. It will be put into good use if you
could lend it for someone else to read.
 Wishing to read an interesting book, but currently out of
money or the bookstore is out of stock :(
We share the same problem. Yeah.
 Thus, an initiative is taken and we would like to make a
kick-start of something BIG.
 Imagine – a reading community where people can
 recommend good reads
 lend and share books
 or even borrow those books in you wish list
 Oh, yes. We are one step closer to that!
Um readr circl
Once upon a time…
 Yerp, we had this once. Our very own online library.
 But still, it was experimental. The link was too long, the
tables are complicated, no admin to synchronize
everything.
 That’s it. We had enough. So, we need to remake a
whole new system.
Now presenting…

How Can You Take Part?

 Keep a record of all transactions
3) We need Contributors!
 Your books, put ‘em into good use. Give a chance for
others to read.
 Here are the steps
 Submit your books list
 You keep the books to you
 When someone requests to borrow, a librarian will
notify you and take the book from you.
 When the books are returned, the librarian will give
em back to you.

4) We need YOU. Readers.

 This is how to do it

 Hit ‘photos’. The books are assorted according to
genre albums.
 Send a private message to the page admin to
request for a book.
 The librarian will contact you to receive the book.

As simple as that.

What’s up next?
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
1) Expansion
 Currently this service is available among ourselves. 3rd
year medical students.
 For the future, we are targeting to get the crowd from
our seniors, our juniors or even involving the whole UM
campus community.
 The more, the merrier :D
 Lets see if everything went well.
2) E-book/PDF section
 Go green! Save the earth! Get paperless!
 Yerp. We plan to create a community where sharing
physical books are not enough, we dwell into sharing e-
books.
 Formats acceptable: .pdf, .epub
 Also, proving step-by-step tutorial to convert your
smartphone into an e-book reader. Gen-Y. We rule!
3) Diskopi
 Huh. What on earth is that?
 Diskusi kedai kopi. Take some time to meet and greet
fellow readers.
 Share book recommendations or summarize what you
have recently read for others.
 Maybe done twice monthly according to availability.
4) Book sale
 Yeah. Together we stand. Divided we fall.
 Purchase books in bulks to get a cheaper price.
 Also share info on book sales and we can go out book
hunting together.
 ‘Wakaf’ your bookstore membership card for mutual
benefit. You get to collect points, we get to collect
discounts~
5) Charity run
 Have any unused books? Too sad to dump it to recycling
center? Lets just give em away!
 Collect books especially children reading materials and
we will send em to any charitable centers (orphanage)
around Klang Valley.
 May this be your continuous deed even after you are
buried 6 feet under the ground.
6) Anything else you can think of
 Yes, the ideas are infinite. Imagination is the limit. You
made this possible.
 This community grows along with its members. We are
not affiliated to anybody, thus we shape it according
the way we want it.
 Any suggestions are warmly appreciated.
1. Read (Proclaim!) In the Name of your Lord who created
2. Created man, out of a clot (of congealed blood).
3. Read (Proclaim), and your Lord is the Most Generous,
4. who taught by the Pen,
5. Taught man that which he knew not.
Jazakumullah khairan kathira.
