run business and been in the family for five generation.
Today Yvnno Bauer is a publisher for Bauer Media Group.
Bauer was originally a small printing house in Germany
and today Bauer is Europe’s largest privately own
publishing group.
Today, the Bauer headquarters is in Hambury, Germany.
In addition, Bauer have over 300 magazine in 15 different
country around the world, over 22 million use Bauer
media group in the UK, for online, TV stations as well as
50 radio like Kiss, Metro Radio or Absolute Radio.
January 2008, Bauer Media join Bauer Media Group, to
work together on magazine. TV, online and 400 digital

There are approximately 11, 000 in 17 different countries
in 2013. Bauer media group, have won a number of
awards in 2015, their radio, magazine and TV station, for

Mark Ellen and David Hepworth founded Q, along with
other magazines like Mojo after the success . The first
issue of Q was in October 1986 with Paul McCartney on
the cover. The country of origin of the magazine is the
United Kingdom. The original of the magazine was Cue,
however they change the name to be Q because the
customer may mistake the music magazine to be a
snooker magazine. Q first was publish by EMAP,
however in 2008, EMAP sold Q title to Bauer, along

On the 3rd October 2000 to the 3rd July 2012, Q created
a channel called Q TV, which is based on indie, rock and
alternative.TV was owned by Bauer Group and Channel

In 1875, Bauer Media Group was founded by Ludolph Bauer. This was originally a small cards business in Hamburg, Germany. However, in the
beginning of the 20th century a free advertising paper, they was one of the first media company to do this, As the Extrablatt am Montag was
release, however later on this became a sport newspaper. Around the same time, in 1920s, their created a radio magazine called Rundfun-Kritik,
which became very popular as they made over half a million copies of the radio magazine. Between 1950 to 1960 they make a youth magazine
for youths. In addition, in 1970 the created a women weeklies segment for women like Bella and Tina. Afterward the form their first private TV
broadcaster And also created a ratio station called . station Radio Hamburg. They also formed a newspaper in Germany called Magdeburger

I have emailed the publisher about the production process of their music magazine.
The reason I have emailed the publisher is because the information given to me will
help me use the same production for my magazine as Q magazine. Q magazine has no
contacts on their official website or on their magazine, so this is why I have emailed
the publisher and not the magazine itself. However, Bauer have not responded to my
email and therefore I have no answer about the production process of Q magazine.

Format and Style
Format
The length of the magazine is 21.6cm whilst the width is 28.3cm .
You can download Q on the customers’ tablet and phone if they subscribe to Q. For 12 issues before buying another
subscription for the following year. The content of the music magazine is thicker than the other magazine, as this will
pack in more information about the music and the artists.
Language
The Strapline of Q is “The World’s Greatest Music Magazine “ implying that they are a bold and confident magazine
which means the information will be bold and also give the audience confidence that they are paying for the better
information about music than other magazines like Mojo or Kerrang!.
The quote on the front cover of Q is “World Exclusive”, which means no one else in the world has the information that
Q has about U2, also that it is the first time U2 has released the information to the public, which means they must buy
the magazine to know more about U2.
On the editor’s letter, which is a single page spread, they addressing the reader by saying “Your new issue of Q is a
collection of stories about the value of taking your time”, this reveal that Q belong to everyone not to the publishing
company, Bauer Media Group. Moreover, this reveal that the audience is the part of Q and is just as important as the
music itself.
On the double page spread, it was an interviewed with Ellie Goulding, it stated that “it could shatter Goulding’s nice girl
image. This reveal that Goulding doesn’t want to be a pop star and wanted to be taken more seriously as an artist. So
by having an interview with Q, she is being rebellious and shattering her clean image, as she is growing in her music
and fame, which implies that she is an artist that will take over the music world.
Colour Scheme
The main house colour of Q is red as this is the colour of the logo on masthead. In addition, white is another house
colour as the letter Q is in white and also when there is a dark page in the magazine, they would use a white colour
font. Also, they would use a black colour font to be presented on each page.
However, on the front cover of the magazine in the October 2015 issue, they also use the colour yellow because
throughout the magazine there are text boxes on some pages that are yellow, which imply that they feel yellow is a
bright colour that makes people feel good. In addition, they may use yellow in the magazine because they have an
exclusive interview with U2 as this is the biggest band in the world so Q use the colour yellow to attract the readers to
the magazine. Achieving an exclusive interview with U2 is a big scoop for the magazine as well as a huge selling point.

The house style of Q magazine is to repeat their mastheads throughout the magazine next to the page number. This is

24. However, more males read Q magazine than female as the

eclectic mix of music, so this is why Q is so popular with different
people. Q magazine matches people’s different music styles, for

The majority readership of Q magazine between the ages of 15- 24 and the most
popular gender who would buy Q is males rather than females. This would be depend
of the audiences’ social group. This is important because if everyone in the social but
Q magazine, therefore they would buy it because they not want to be left out of the
conversion if they are discussing Q. therefore, Q magazine had impacted someone life

Magazine have to go through a process to check for any racism words or phrases before it is release

black lipstick which have a subheading of ‘R.I.P’ whilst a white model with a beery colour lipstick

Magazine would post offensive materials on the magazine to cause offensive to other people. By posting

IPSO Making a press complaint
Make a complain
1. Initial assessment
When the complaint is receives, they will have to check, which remit the complaint is under and also check if the complaint will be a breach of the
code. If the complaint is pointless, then IPSO will write to the person and explain to them why.
2. Referral to the publication
However, if the complain is a breach of the code then IPSO will be passed the complaint to the editor and then the issue should be resolves in 28
days directly to the person who made the complaint.
3. The investigation
If the complaint is not resolve after 28 days with the company, then the Complaints Committee will have to write to the editor of the company. The
Complaints Committee will include display specific question to the exchanging. This will ask you more questions about the complaints.
4. Adjudication by the Complaints Committee
If your complaints are still remain unresolved. The Complaints Committee will have to decides if the complain is a breach of the Editors’ Code. The
Complaints Committee will be will have to review the complaint and also have to be seen at both side of the person who made the complaint to the
publication’s point of views. A finally decision will be made if the complaint is the Editor’s code and the reason why.
5. Remedies
When the Complaint committee decided the complaint id a breach against the breached. The company must correct the situation and the
Adjudication (a legal action that the judge will look at the evidence and argument) by the Complaint Committee.
6. Review of the process
The complaint will have to go through the process of step 2 to step 5 again. However, if the person is understand with the decision, then they have
the chose to get the complaint to be looked at the Complaint Reviewers. So the Complaint Reviewers will have the detail to be filled out by the IPSO
Board members.
7. Complaints, which are not pursued
The IPSO expects will have the company and the person who made the complaint will join together to look at the complaints. Responded wouldn’t
come back immediately, but they will write to the person as soon as they can.
8. Unacceptable behaviour by complainants and vexatious complaints
The person who made the complaint could have mix emotion such as highly distress and would need support. When someone made a complaint,
they will have access to the IPSO’s Executive staff. The staff will not accept bad behaviour from the person who made the complaint.
