What living things and non-living things can you see?
A bike, a boat and a plane are non-living things.
Animals, humans and plants are living things.
What do living things need? What do they all do?
All living things are born, grow and die.
Living things need food, water and air.
What three life processes do all living things have?
Nutrition, interaction and reproduction
What do animals eat?
Some animals eat plants and animals. Some eat animals.
Animals eat other living things. Some animals eat plants.
How do animals react to their environment?
Animals make sounds to communicate with other animals.
Animals move around. Some swim, some fly and some run.
How do animals reproduce?
Other animals are born directly from their mothers.
Some animals are born from eggs.
How do humans interact?
Humans communicate by touching, talking and writing.
Humans move around. They live and work in groups.
How do plants make their own food?
They use sunlight, air, water and nutrients from the soil.
How do plants interact?
Sunflowers face the Sun. Roots grow towards water.
They can’t move around, but they can move their parts.
How do plants reproduce?
Some plants grow a new plant from their parts.
Many plants make seeds. Seeds grow into new plants.
Which actions are good and bad for living things?
Touching a bird’s nest and picking wild flowers are bad.
Watering plants and taking your pet to the vet are good.
