International Organizations International organization are countries that organize to pursue their own economic and political interests.
What is the purpose of international organizations?   To work together in groups defined by region, by common interests, common economic goals
This is the  free trade areas of the Americas .  It helps lessen trade barriers and promotes economic prosperity
The  European Union  (EU) Continued on next slide…
The EU is an economic and political union of countries in Europe. They even share a common currency—the EURO
African Union The AU was created to promote unity in Africa, promote progress, and work with the international community.
League of  Arab States This is an organization of countries in North and Northeast Africa and some countries in Southwest Asia.  Their main goal is to keep peaceful relations between the nations and work for the economic and political interests of these Arab nations
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)  Designed to promote trade, finance, lawmaking, and security. The CIS also works on encouraging the creation of democracy in these nations.  Nations are located in Eastern Europe and Western Asia.
The goals of this organization is to promote economic growth, encourage peace, assist one another to progress with new technology, better education, and work with the rest of the world in a peaceful way. Association  Of Southeast Asian Nations
Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Venezuela, Algeria, Nigeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, UAE, Qatar These are the nations that are the leading oil producers
Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Goal is to promote trade in the region
NATO: North Atlantic Treaty Organization 28 countries from North America and Europe Goal is to protect the freedoms of its nations by political and military means
The G-8 Economic organization of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, and the USA  These are the richest nations in the world The goal is to find solutions to the world’s problems
UNITED NATIONS This is the largest international organization Its goal is to promote cooperation between the nations of the world 192 member states
