The Revolutions
A revolution is an action for change no
                 matter how it happens.
Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was written for England.

The Magna Carta was written in 1215.

The Magna Carta finally limited Kings and
what they could do. Now they were also
held to the law. This was the first step in
limiting the monarchies of total power.

This was a form of “Rule of Law” because
now you could be ruled by the Magna Carta
not the King.
Glorious Revolution

The Glorious Revolution took place in
Spain.

William the 3rd of Orange-Nassau took over
as King of this country then.

The English Bill of Rights changed the
power of Kings forever.
The English Bill of Rights


 It was passed of December 16, 1689.

 It declared the rights and liberties of
 subjects. It also settled the succession of
 the crown.
The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment is a period in time in
which people started questioning how
things we run. It promoted sharing ideas
and opposed the church and state for
abusing their powers.

It took place from the 1700s to the 1800s.

It is important because it played a major
role in the American revolution.
Charles-Louis
Montesquieu

He was born in Château de la Bréde which is
in southwest France.

He is most Famous for his theory on the
separation of powers.
John Locke

He was born in Wrington, Somerset,
England.

He lived from August 26, 1632 to October
28, 1704. He lived 72 years on this earth.

Natural rights are rights we are born with.
They are rights that we should all have by
nature. Life, liberty, and Property.
Jean Jacques Rousseau
He hails from Geneva.

He was born on June 28, 1712 and died at
age 66 on July 2, 1778.

The social contract is a book that theorized
about the best way to set up a political
community in society. This contract
suggested that we all give up the same
amount and that we all do the same duties.
Thomas Jefferson

He was given birth to in Shadwell, Virginia.

He is credited with writing the declaration
of Independence.

I believe he changed it because sometimes in
life you don’t need property to pursue
happiness and that’s all we’re really
looking for in life.
