unit 4 family and social health
Good relationships take time, and energy. In order for you to have a good relationship with others you should always be honest and respect others. You should always remain loyal to your friends and that means you never talk bad about them you speak kindly of them. lesson 1 getting along with others
There are many different ways to communicate with others. Don t only think of messages of word’s, but in gestures, facial expressions, and behaviors. Are all form’s of communication. Communication is critical because it let’s others know what you feel what you want and needed.  lesson 2
Family members have responsibilities to the health of the family. Some families are made up of two parents and one or more children. As a system each family member level health physical, mental- and emotional, and social affects the health of the total family. Chapter 12 lesson 1 strenghtening family relationships
Domestic violence brings fear and abuse into the family system and is the single most destructive force in American families today. Some times major changes occur triggering stress in families. Other changes  to a family structure include becoming a part bending family or having an older relative  like a grandparent moving into the house hold. lesson 2 looking at the health of the family
A healthy family is a work in progress, requiring in on going effort on the part of each member. many communities also provide crisis hotline special phone numbers people can call to receive help 24 hours a day. lesson 3 support systems for familys
Physical attraction to another person is normal healthy part of growing up. As a small child you had a limited circle of peers. Now that you are older you have a larger circle from which to choose your relationships. chapter 13 peer relationships
Peer pressure is the control in influence people your age can have over you. Your peers can have a great impact on what you think , feel, say and do. Some times peers may pressure others to accept beliefs or take part in a behavior that has a negative consequence.  lesson 2 peer pressure and refusal skills
There are common physical and emotional signs that indicate a conflict is building. Conflicts are a normal part of life. Conflicts of this type can start over minor issues, like the disagreement between the teens. When a conflict arises you can either face it or ignore it. Conflicts can begin in many ways and for many different reasons.  chapter 14 the nature of conflict
Sometimes a conflict is so difficult that out side assistance is needed. Some people think that physical fighting is the best way to settle a disagreement a better approach involves the skill of negotiation. Some times during a conflict the two parties reach a certain point where it may be time for meditation. lesson 2 conflict resolution skills
Teens are increasingly the people who commit violent crimes as well as the victims of these crimes. Other acts of violence are crimes of hate steaming from the prejudice negative feelings toward an individual base not on experience  but on misguided generalization about race ethnic or gender. lesson 3  stratagies for avoiding violence
Many cases of abuse go unreported partly do to fear or feelings of futility on the part of a victim. Physical abuse is initially bodily harm or injury on a person.  Rape or sexual intercourse by force, is a crime of violence. It is also one of the least reported crimes. It is estimated in fact that half of all rapes go unreported. lesson 4 preventing abuse
Chapter 11 summary relationships affect you physical and mental and social health. You play many different roles in your relationships with others. There are many ways to communicate with others. Effective communication means being a good listener as well as a good speaker.
Chapter 12 summary The family is the basic social unit of society. There are techniques for copying with family problems and improving the health of the family. A healthy family is a work in progress requiring an ongoing effort on the part of each member.
Chapter 13 summary Physical attraction to another person is a normal healthy part of growing up. Learning to resist negative peer pressure is an important skill. Refusal skills are the way of saying no to negative peer influence.
Chapter 14 summary Conflict is a normal part of life. Sometimes a conflict is so difficult that out side assistance is needed. Your efforts can help you make the world safer and healthier place. Many teens are in abusive relationships.
