- 2. 1st conditional (probable) • If Alicia studies, she will pass the exam. PRESENT FUTURE Unless Alicia studies, she won’t pass the exam. As soon as Alicia starts to study, she will pass the exam. When they pay their taxes, they will receive a receipt.

- 5. 3rd conditional (imposible) If she hadn’t come, she would have never met that person. But now she is here. PAST PERFECT WOULD HAVE… If they had been less moody, the other people would have felt more relaxed. The train is gone. If Ana had taken that train, she would have arrived on time.
- 6. Compare: • If Pablo studies, he will pass the exam. He is very smart. (1st) • If Pablo studied, he would pass the exam. But I am afraid he won’t study. He is so lazy! (2nd) • If Pablo had studied, he would have passed the exam. But he didn’t, because he is lazy. (3rd) • I wish Pablo studied a bit more!
