Image Evaluation: 1
BEFORE
AFTER
This image was taken using a slow shutter speed using a
tripod. This is so I could get the best quality. As you can see
the original image was low in contrast. This is due to
saturation from the iSO allowing light to enter the lens.
When importing this into Photoshop I used tools: Contrast,
Sharpness and HDR Toning. The Leaves in the background
were originally blurred. This is because I was using a high
depth of field.
The image that I have taken was staged on a shady day. This
was an extreme disadvantage to the image because I was using
macro lenses which further reduced light entering the shutter.
However, using a high field of depth allowed the leaves behind
the flower to become blurred. I used this as an advantage once
I had added colour to the image and created a glow feature
around the leaves.
Image Evaluation: 2
ORIGINAL
This image was taken using the same settings
from image 1. In contrast I did not use any image
manipulation tools on this image. It has been left
in its original state.
In my opinion I would of liked to raised the
concentration on the white seeds on the flower. I
feel it would of created a more attractive view on
the image it self.
The image was taken with the camera in hand
while I was led on the grass. The wind was
blowing this flower about so I didn’t use the macro
lenses for this. Even though I didn’t raise the
Shutter speed I managed to achieve a beautiful eye
on view of this flower.
Image Evaluation: 3
When walking around the forest it
started to rain. Came prepared with
water proofs for my camera I set to try
and get a shot a water droplet in close
up action rolling down a leave.
The original image was smeared with
a white light because I use flash to
bring out the water droplet shining in
the light. However I quickly fixed this
in Photoshop using Exposure
composition and Vibrance tools.
I am happy with this image and
wouldn’t change anything about it.

AFTER
Image Evaluation: 4
Taking live action shots is one of my favourite
macro genres. This photo brings out how spiders
hunt for their prey. Using the macro lenses to my
advantage I set my field of depth to 24f and used a
fast iSO speed. However this reduces the quality
of the image but it is not the quality I focused on
in this image.
This image has had no editing done to it because I
am happy with the original image I took. In my
opinion I would of liked to of captured the action
a second earlier as it jumped on the bug caught in
its web.
The setting I used was TV. This is because it works
well with action shots in my opinion and I could
achieve maximum quality o what I was taking.
The Field of Depth at a high setting bought out the
spiders web also.
Image Evaluation: 5
AFTER BEFORE
This is one of my favourite images I
took. When taking the image I
could take time with it because the
spider was still for a long time.
Using a low depth of field because I
felt the green in the background
would look good in focus & a low
iSO I was able to capture the
superb detail on this spider.
In my opinion if I had to change
anything, I would change the angle
the image was taken at. I would of
liked to achieve a shot with a fully
detailed head.
Because the camera didn’t pick up much of the light (Due to shade) I used HDR
Toning and contrast to bring out the colours in the image. Overall I feel the image is
very attractive and eye catching because at First glance it confuses the mind but is
easy to understand.
Image Evaluation: 6
This image does indeed look like it has been edited using
shadow and gradient tools. However it has not! What you
can see here is a contrast between two different scenes. A
dark room and then lifting the cap to the picture of the bee
you can see. What happens is the camera try's to focus while
the cap is lifted.
In my opinion I should of taken the image further back
because it is too close up. However that would evade the
point of Macro. Concluding: I feel this image is intresting but
lacks in colour.
Image Evaluation: 7
BEFORE AFTER
As you can see the original image was low in contrast and exposure to light due to macro tubes.
When importing this into Photoshop I used tools: Contrast, Sharpness and HDR Toning. The
Leaves in the background were originally blurred. This is because I was using a high depth of
field.
The owl’s eye was very dark so I highlighted the area I wanted to change and used exposure
tools and saturation colour tools to make the eye more attractive and appealing.
