Unit d - section 3.2 -- technology develops through change
 Over the years technology has grown in leaps
    in bounds

 The new materials and technology developed
over the years has pushed our advancement
    forward
 The technologies we have today were not
created perfectly on the first try

 The majority of the technologies have been
improved due to years of trying out different
    methods

   For Example;
    ◦ Pop Can openers
Unit d - section 3.2 -- technology develops through change
 Many of the devices we use today are only
possible because of an improvement in some
    area of science.

 Electricity was the biggest advancement

 Without it we would not be able to run the
vast majority of our equipment to perform
    tasks
 Cell Phones have become a huge
commodity….What did they used to look
    like??

 Late 70’s

 PSP Phone
 As scientists and engineers and others
learned more about electricity and other
technologies many new and creative ideas
    emerged.

 Eg. Microscopes and bullet trains
 These trains are powered by electricity and
float on magnets so they never touch the
    tracks

 As technology grows and changes so does
    the society these technologies influence

   For example;
    ◦ Robots
    ◦ Environment
 Initially robots were ideas of myth and
    science fiction.

 Nowadays robots make the majority of our
products such as cars, and appliances
 Since the 1960’s recycling technologies have
been created and improved upon to make our
    planet a better place
    ◦ Biodegradable plastics

 Newer technologies can help protect the
environment from damage such as the
robotic Oil Skimmers to clean up water spills
