Assignment title                                Know about digital graphics technology

The purpose of this assignment is to: introduce learners to the production and development of digital graphics for use in interactive media and
print media products. Learners will investigate the theory underlying the creation of digital graphics, and use the basic tools of digital graphics
software to produce images for interactive media and print media products.




Scenario - FUN FACTORY - a new entertainments company is looking for someone to produce the graphic images required for the opening
of a new Funfair in the North of England. In order to be considered for this job, they would like you to firstly demonstrate a thorough technical
understanding of digital graphics technology.



Tasks                                                                                                                  Grading Criteria Mapping

TASK 1 โ€“ Explain & illustrate the following within a PowerPoint presentation:                                          P1, M1, & D1
Pixel: picture element; image resolution
Types of digital images: raster (bmp, gif, tiff, jpg); vector (psd, wmf, fla, ai)
File extensions: e.g. bmp, png, gif, tiff, jpg, psd
Compression: lossy; lossless
Image capture: scanners; digital camera
Optimising: target image output; image bit depth; image resolution; image dimensions; compression
Output: intended image output, e.g. print, screen, worldwide web; compression
Storage of image assets: file size, file-naming conventions, asset management

Sources of information: Use of the Internet, lesson notes, Adobe Photoshop Booklet, VLE resources (notes, videos etc.)
