- 3. The Gold Star Network: A partnership • Family Health International is partnering with the Kenya Medical Association and other partners to support a Network of private providers to deliver HIV care under the brand name Gold Star Network.
- 4. Goal • To expand access to comprehensive and quality HIV care and anti-retroviral therapy services in the private sector based on a franchised care model and delivered through networks of accredited providers.
- 5. Broad Objective • To establish a managed network of competent clinical providers in the private sector who will access affordable drugs and other commodities for HIV care and ART services and a corresponding clientele of HIV infected persons and their families accessing quality comprehensive care and treatment services.

Specific Objectives • Provide regular HIV/AIDS training and continuous mentorship to networked providers • Establish a quality assurance system for networked providers that meets National Guidelines and standards • Establish an accessible and affordable quality laboratory testing capacity available to the networked providers

Specific Objectives/2 • Establish a mechanism for access to a consistent supply of quality drugs at lower prices • Provide publicity for the networked providers • Provide client-centered counseling for treatment adherence and on-going psycho- social support • Establish Network Support Centres to provide technical, logistical support and the monitoring of provider performance and client progress

The Network Model Clinical Services (Prevention in the context of care, Promotive and Treatment services) Counselling and Support (Adherence Counselling, Psycho Social Support through PLWHA Support organisation) Drug Supply Services (Drug Procurement and Delivery at Discounted Prices) Laboratory Services (Laboratory monitoring through appointed supplier of lab services) Gold Star Network Support Centre (Training, Accreditation, Expert Clinical Decision Support, Patient Support, QA and M&E )
- 9. The Gold Star Network Support Based at The Network Secretariat and Support Centres. Functions: – Consultation on medical diagnosis and management – Tracking of laboratory test results – Tracking drug delivery and use – Patient tracking for treatment adherence, default and death – Clinical expertise and decision support – Data management: collation, analysis, reporting, monitoring of provider performance and client progress – Access to treatment information updates – Training and mentorship coordination
