 Li-ion battery (LIB) has shown a great potential to fulfil the growing
energy demands for hybrid electric vehicle, smart grid applications,
and portable electronic devices, due to its advantages such as high
power and energy density, long cycle life and structure stability.
 The energy density and performance of LIBs are largely determined by
the chemical and physical properties of the cathode and anode
materials.
Why lithium ion?
• Higher energy density.
• Higher cell voltage.
• Fast recharge.
• Low self discharge.
• Life can extend tens of thousands of cycles.
