- 2. What are Apps? Apps, or Applications, are interactive websites that can be downloaded to a cellular phone, computer (Itunes), and I Pod touches. Apps offer versatility and creativity for enhanced instruction and applications There are thousands of educational content rich applications that can be used for instruction and enrichment.
- 3. How will I know if the Apps I choose are well suited for my classroom? Well this question cannot be answered until you try it. Most educational apps give an overview of the product and the age group it is intended for. Once you download the app play with it to see if the content is appropriate and applicable to instruction. TIP-read the reviews of the app prior to downloading. If you see that the reviews are positive then test it out.
- 4. How do I download Apps? First-search education or content related applications via I tunes or via cellular phone. (Note: many are FREE!) Second-download the apps to I tunes or phone Third-transfer the app from your phone **App can be transferred using usb power cords.
- 5. How can Apps be shared with my students? If you download your app into I tunes then you can share it on your White or Smart board via your computer. Apps can be used for images, charts, vocabulary, and other media support to enhance your instruction. If your school has IPads or ITouches for students they can readily use the app along with you as you teach! How amazing! Students can download the app on their own electronic devices and use the app on their own time.
- 6. Some additional notes...... Remember- A majority of the apps are free. You can search "free" in the category search box. Preview the app prior to sharing it with your class. Apps should be an additional resource tool for your instruction. Once you have something great share it amongst your colleagues so that they too can get in on the App trend.
