What are PAL Packs? Ask Sarah Palin Self Study Packs containing resources, activities and assessment Personalisation, differentiation, learning styles Active Learning Engaging
What needs to be done? – getting started Each course should deliver 15% of content through PAL Packs. (15% of theoretical content in highly practical courses) Meet as a team and decide which content will be PAL Packed and how delivered (supervised in Study Centre, flexible, home study etc) Get involved in CPD Liaise with your ILT and Study Centre contacts
What needs to be done? – by September PAL Packs in place on Moodle for quality audit. Timetable sessions into Study Centres if required. PAL Pack Calendar – dates for starting and ending each pack. Introduce students into idea of learning through PAL Packs. Set clear and high expectations about engagement.
ILT Based PAL Packs “ Structure” – recommended not prescriptive Focus on developing quality learning experience  Instructions Learning Objectives Learning Content – esp OER/OCW, NLN, Video, tutors own resources, bought in resources, embed when possible Learning Activities – e.g.  forums ,  glossaries ,,  journals  etc Assessment –  quizzes  and or  assignments Evaluation -  Choice
Learning Content Minimise work load for tutors Searching for content can be done by study centre staff Make use of free to use web based content Use content we already have - handouts, PowerPoint's etc
