So What Are  “Communities of Practice?”
Communities of Practice (CoPs): Groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and they learn how to do it better as they interact regularly. —Etienne Wenger, pioneer in communities of practice research
How Are CoPs Different than Other Communities? Domain What do we really care about as a community? How is our purpose here going to advance the field? How is it connected to our programs’ strategies? Community What are our shared interests? How will we advance them? How will we connect in order to do that? How will we interact and develop trust? Practice! How will this advance our own learning? How will learning be documented, and by whom? What learning activities will we organize? What projects should we jointly do? What expertise will we tap?

Small Groups Share With A Partner:  PEOPLE:  For which CoP are you planning technology?  OBJECTIVE:  What is your goal / objective for using digital tools with this CoP? STRATEGY:  What is your project? What will your group need to be able to do? TECHNOLOGY:  What kind of technology do you think will help address your CoP’s specific need? (10 MINUTES)
