The National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Training Consortium (NNPRFTC) was convened in 2010 by four Federally Qualified Health Center-based postgraduate nurse practitioner residency training programs. In 2013, the NNPRFTC identified accreditation as a goal and began developing accreditation standards and a process. The NNPRFTC was formally incorporated in 2015 to advance postgraduate NP training, including their new accreditation program. The NNPRFTC launched their website and accredited their first two programs in 2015-2017. Their accreditation program is based on national standards, involves peer-review, and provides public recognition to excellent postgraduate NP training programs.
