North Carolina Central University began working with NC State University and IBM in 2005 to develop a Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) infrastructure on its campus. The VCL currently has over 500 unique users and provides access to popular applications like Microsoft Office, SAS, and SPSS. The Technology Transfer Project, of which NCCU is a part, aims to expand VCL implementations to other historically black colleges and universities and allow for increased collaboration between member institutions. Future plans include deepening VCL and cloud penetration among Technology Transfer Project schools and extending access to smaller HBCUs and K-12 institutions.
