Most user input took place offline, and individual webpages were generally static. NO ADVERTISING In those early days of Web 1.0, many modern users will be surprised to hear there was no online advertising – this practice was in fact banned. Online advertising only began much later, once the internet had become more interactive. E-COMMERCE E-commerce through Web 1.0 looked very different to the multitude of online stores and payment options available today. Most e-commerce stores would simply be catalogues of products, with email addresses to place orders – or perhaps a button to click through to an order page. Web 2.0 is also known as the ‘read/write’ web, where users could interact and contribute more easily, and we are now entering the era of Web 3.0.
