What is an Aggregator? Aggregators reduce the time and effort needed to regularly check websites for updates, creating a unique information space or "personal newspaper.” Once subscribed to a feed, an aggregator is able to check for new content at user-determined intervals and retrieve the update.

Pageflakes The site is organized into tabs, each tab containing user-selected modules called  Flakes .  Each Flake varies in content; information such as RSS/Atom feeds, Calendar, Notes, Web search, weather forecast,  del.icio.us  bookmarks,  Flickr  photos, social networking tools like  Facebook ,  YouTube ,  Twitter , email and user-created modules.  Pageflakes has 250,000 Flakes and over 130,000  Pagecasts  (publicly shared pages created by users with individual URLs).
 
AUDIO and Podcasting
Voki Voki enables users to express themselves on the web in their own voice using a talking character.  You can customize your Voki to look like you or take on the identity of lots of other types of characters… animals, monsters, anime etc.  Your Voki can speak with your own voice which is added via microphone, upload, or phone.
Read the Words Users of this service can generate a clear sounding audio file from almost any written material.  Read the Words.com generates a voice that reads the words that you request.
Podcast According to  Wikipedia , “A podcast is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and computers.  Podcasts are audio files that are delivered over the Internet and then played back on a computer or portable audio player.  Podcasting is a term coined from the combination of “iPod,” a popular digital audio player, and “broadcast. DoppelMe Create a cool graphical likeness of yourself, your friends, family or any group of people for use as an avatar in forums, instant messenger, blogs and almost anywhere else on the web.

Flickr Flickr  is an image and video hosting website  It was one of the earliest Web 2.0 applications – launched in 2004 In addition to being a popular Web site for users to share personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers as a photo warehouse.  Its popularity has been fueled by its organization tools, which allow photos to be tagged and browsed.  It claims to host more than 2 billion images.
 
Flickr Resources Spell with Flickr Flickr Toys  collection
Students can search on Flickr for pictures licensed under a  Creative Commons license  to use in their presentations and digital stories.  GREAT JOB FLICKR in providing this resource!

Cool Text Cool Text is a  free  graphics generator for web pages and anywhere else you need an impressive logo without a lot of design work.
TypoGenerator Turns a piece of text into a piece of art.
Wordle Generate “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes.

      Mixter ccMixter.org  is a community music site that promotes remix culture and makes samples, remixes, and a cappella tracks licensed under  Creative Commons  available for download and re-use in creative works.
Jamendo Jamendo is a community of free, legal and unlimited music published under Creative Commons licenses.  Share your music, download your favorite artists!
Garageband GarageBand.com  is a large  online community  of independent musicians and music fans. Founded in 1999, the site is used by musicians who seek greater exposure  The site is also used by music fans to discover new independent artists in the site's vast collection.  Some is  Creative Commons -licensed music content Good Times by  Kevin Mitchum

ORGANIZATION
Gliffy With Gliffy online diagram software, you can easily create professional-looking flowcharts, diagrams, floor plans, technical drawings, and more.
Webspiration Whether working individually or collaboratively, Webspiration is the new online visual thinking tool.
Jott Lets you "phone it in" and it emails you the message. Or you can call in appointments to your Google Calendar, add check list items to your Remember the Milk to-do list, order titles from Amazon, and/or post items to your blog.

RESEARCH
Google Notebook Google Notebook is a free research tool, available to everyone with a Google account, that lets you create a notebook of your online discoveries – quotes, images, etc. Think of this as Google’s 3x5 index cards for internet research. As of January, Google has discontinued support of Notebook!    If you already have an account, you continue access. google.com/notebook

SLIDESHOW
Glogster Glogster is a new service that lets users create web pages (they call them posters) using Flash elements. Upload photos, songs, text and other stuff, drag it around, embed the poster or share it with friends.
VIDEO
Animoto Create video from your pictures. Apply for  Animoto in Education  account for your students and you will be able to create full-length video, instead of the standard 30 second video.
Jing Jing is a free screen capture program you can download to your computer, which you can use to take snapshots, or record whatever you are doing. Files save as .swf files – need to be converted Or Upgrade to  Jing Pro  – saves as smaller, .mp4 files
WORD PROCESSING & PRODUCTIVITY
Google Docs & Spreadsheets docs.google.com Google Docs & Spreadsheets is available to everyone with a Google account. Docs & Spreadsheets lets you Upload Word or Excel files or create new documents and spreadsheets online Edit your files online Invite others to edit your files online View the files’ version histories and roll back to previous versions Publish the finished files to the world as web pages or blog posts Download the final, edited files as .doc, .rtf, .pdf, .html, and/or .zip files
Google Docs Templates Google Docs now has 314 document, spreadsheet, and presentation templates you are free to use. You can create a new document from a template by choosing New > From Template… docs.google.com/templates
