Introduction
What is website optimization?
Website optimization is a technique
to designing and developing a
website in such away that it should
be capable to satisfy some key
points.
These key point are focused much
before starting a website.
Internet Marketing
 Search engine optimization (SEO)
- no cost per click
 Search engine marketing (SEM)
- cost per click
SEO is not just a process to make sure search engines are
happy, it is a process to make sure you are delivering the
best customer service to your customers.
KEY POINTS
1) DOMAIN AND DOMAIN AGE
• Most important and time required task.
• Easy to remember and dedicated towards your website,
its contents and services.
• Domain age is important as search engines use it for
calculation trust and authority.
2) DOCTYPE
• The DOCTYPE declaration is it is an instruction to the
web browser about what version of HTML the page is
written in.
• Must be the very first thing in your HTML document.
• Not an HTML tag.
• <!DOCTYPE html>
3) TITLE OF WEB PAGE
• When anyone searches for anything in a Search engine,
the title is the first tag that is crawled by any search
engines.
• Your title should be very much dedicated to your
website and more to your contents.
• Google shows 65 characters in search results including
spaces.
4) ADD DESCRIPTION
• For example when you search something in Google, you
would notice results with big font size titles and a small
description below the title, which serves as your first
layer of marketing.
•
• Your description should briefly describe your website
and the type of service you provide. Google support 150
character long descriptions, other character are ignored.
• <meta name="description" content=“ ” />
5) CREATE GOOD NAVIGATION LINKS
• You are the developer; you are the man who planed
everything. You know each and every link in your website
but does your visitor knows?
• In this step we anchorage you to build website in such a way
that your customer’s journey within your website as easy and
smooth as possible. Remember “the shorter the steps they
need to reach to the required content, to register, or to
complete a sale, the higher success rate you would receive.”
• Search engines crawls your website through your navigation
links, so if your customers are easily and simply browsing,
good chance that search engine crawlers are too.
6) SET UP GOOGLE WEBMASTER TOOLS
• Free toolset provides Google.
• Allow you to provide information the search engine
itself on how they see your site.
• Add Website to You A/c And Verify it.
Understand important issues like:
 Is Google crawling your site? If so, how many pages is it
discovering?
 What internal links are being recognized?
 What external links are pointed at your site?
7) GET ON WITH GOOGLE ANALYTICS
• Google Analytics is a free.
• Help in understanding your visitor and progress of your
website.
• For using Google Analytics, you have to copy a code
provided by Google Analytics in every page to your
website.
• Just this much and leave it all for Google Analytics.
8) GET LISTED ON SEARCH ENGINES AND
OPEN DIRECTORIES.
• This as similar to get your phone number listed correctly in
phone directory.
• Searching becomes easy when there is a dedicated way to
search.
• You can list your website in DMOZ Directory, Yahoo
Directory in appropriate category.
• Submit your sitemap to search engines like Google, Yahoo,
Bing and Ask etc.
• There are many tools to do so. This can be done manually by
developer. This is recommended to frequently (3 to 7 days)
resubmit your sitemap to search engines for better results.
9) LINK WEBSITE TO SOCIAL PROFILES
• If/when you create company profiles for Facebook,
Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc., make sure that you
include the link back to your site.
• This will direct user to your website and vice versa.
• People are aware of upcoming products or services.
• Help in Banding.
10) ALLOW VISITOR TO CONTACT YOU
• As a well-wisher of your visitor you should welcome
suggestions, problems and also Requirements of your
visitor/User.
• This will be very beneficial if you reply to the massages
if required.
