Summary
In Learning Plan 1 the focus is building analytical skills by reading
deeper into the relationships between ideas.
Learning Plan 2 introduces inferences. An inference is a conclusion
drawn from evidence or implied via reasoning. A greater awareness
of inferences strengthens analytical skills.
Learning Plan 3 teaches how to differentiate between fact and
opinion and what makes writing persuasive.
The ability to clearly describe people, projects, places, and events is
essential to writing effective sentences. Learning Plan 4 introduces
descriptive expository writing, which uses sensory imagery to appeal
to as many of the five senses as possible.
Learning Plan 5 incorporates the skills from LPs 1-4 to create
paragraphs, brainstorm ideas and write a descriptive paragraph using
sensory imagery.
Learning Plan 6 introduces essay format, including the thesis
statement, paragraph organization, outlining and audience analysis.
Learning Plan 7 covers essay composition-writing and rewriting
sentences and/or paragraph reorganization to facilitate easy
understanding.
Learning Plan 8 introduces editing methods.
Learning Plan 9 reflects upon lessons learned.
Learning Plan 10 evaluates student composition submissions.
